Kinegawa Yoemon, actually Kubota Kingoro
A typical iroaku (sexy evil role). He is handsome and good at seducing women, but betrays women in a cruel and callous way. He used to be a samurai named Kubota Kingoro. He had an illicit relationship with a woman named Kiku and killed her husband Suke with a sickle, after which he went into disguise and changed his name to Yoemon. More than ten years later, he meets Kasane, the daughter of Suke and Kiku, and develops a relationship.
Kasane
An adopted daughter raised by the Kinugawa family. She serves as a lady-in-waiting to the Yuki family. She chases her lover Yoemon after finding a suicide note. She catches up with him on the riverbank at Kinegawa, but her appearance has changed dramatically. Her name recalls the word kasaneru (accumulation), symbolizing a repetition of karma.
